Hoosier Lottery offering a few lucky players the
opportunity to sample the "new" Powerball for free
INDIANAPOLIS - A new era of Powerball® with Power Play® is underway and the Hoosier Lottery is giving a few lucky players the opportunity to play the newly-enhanced game for free.
Representatives from the Hoosier Lottery will be visiting 16 select retail locations around the state Wednesday morning to distribute 300 free Powerball tickets at each location. Beginning at 6 a.m. (local time), the first 300 players to stop by each retail site will receive one free Powerball ticket each. The offer is limited to one ticket per person and the promotion will last until all 300 tickets have been distributed at the retailer or until 9 a.m. (local time), whichever comes first. Players must be at least 18 years of age.
The list of retail sites where tickets will be offered can be found on the Promotions and Events page at www.hoosierlottery.com.
The redesigned Powerball game launched Sunday and now offers bigger starting jackpots, better overall odds and more million-dollar prizes. The ticket price has also changed from $1 to $2 per play.
The cost of Power Play remains just $1 per play, but has also been enhanced and now offers fixed, larger prizes up to $2 million.
Wednesday night's Powerball drawing, which will be the first to feature the game's upgrades, offers an estimated jackpot of $80 million.
As with all Hoosier Lottery games, the net income generated from sales of Powerball tickets in Indiana stays in Indiana to benefit Hoosiers.
