"Hoosiers haven't had a shot at a Hoosier Lotto jackpot this big in more than two years," said Megan Wright Hoosier Lottery Public Relations Manager. "Hoosiers have a shot at three of the four biggest jackpots up for grabs in the world right now."
For just $5 players can get in on the excitement of all three of Indiana's Big Jackpot Games: Friday night's $16 million Mega Millions with Megaplier draw, Saturday's $20.5 million Hoosier Lotto and Powerball with Power Play's $52 million draw.
Hoosier Lotto has been heating up all summer. It was last hit on March 3, 2010 by Jerry Jones of Muncie who won $9 million on a ticket purchased at Village Pantry at 4900 East Jackson St. in Muncie. Saturday's $20.5 million Hoosier Lotto jackpot ranks as the ninth biggest since the game started in 1994.
The winner of the current Hoosier Lotto jackpot will be the second jackpot winner of 2010 and the 11th jackpot winner since Jan. 2009. The last 10 Hoosier Lotto jackpots were hit in Kokomo, Elkhart, Huntingburg, Muncie (twice), Milan, Indianapolis (twice), Connersville and New Albany.
The biggest Hoosier Lotto jackpot on record was won by Peter Gilbert of East Chicago. He beat the game's odds of 1:12,271,512 to win $54.5 million in November 2007.
Hoosier Lotto tickets cost just $1 and may be purchased at more than 4,000 retailers statewide. Players have until 10:40 p.m. Saturday night to purchase tickets for Saturday's drawing.
Players should always sign the back of their tickets. Players have 180 days from the draw date to claim a Hoosier Lottery draw game prize. The Hoosier Lottery reminds all players to play responsibly.
