Christmas comes early for Santa Claus resident

Darryl Fischer of Santa Claus, Ind., received an early Christmas present this week when he claimed his $200,000 winnings from the November 6 Powerball® with Power Play® drawing Monday at Hoosier Lottery headquarters. A casual player, Fischer occasionally spends $5 on draw games. Fischer checked his tickets at the same Circle S store where he purchased them on Highway 162 while on his way to church Sunday morning. He was stunned to learn he had actually won $200,000. A team leader at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing plant in Princeton, Ind., Fischer was humbled by his win. “I kept thinking ‘Why me, why now? I don’t deserve this,’” he said.
