$1 Million Winner in "Hub of the Universe"
INDIANAPOLIS – A Boswell woman
purchased a $1 million
winning Hoosier Lottery ticket at a Boswell truck stop. Regular customer, Chantel Mize
, purchased the lucky game at HHB Petroleum, Inc. at 207 North Old US 41 in Boswell.
The retailer, known as Hub Plaza Truck Stop, holds the distinction of selling the first of eight $1 million
prizes on the Hoosier Lottery scratch-off $80 Million Cash Spectacular.
The town of Boswell has a population of 827 and is located northwest of Lafayette in Benton County. It is known for its "Hub of the Universe"
Mize made the short trip from Boswell to Hoosier Lottery Headquarters in Indianapolis and presented her winning ticket Tuesday. The life-long Indiana resident will receive her winnings as a thirty year annuity. She received her first payment of $43,000 before taxes on Tuesday.
"It's great," said Mize. "I'll still be getting payments and still have an income after I retire."
The Benton County woman is a nurse. She and her husband, Curt, a truck driver, plan to use their initial winnings for a new roof on their house, new siding on their garage and a new pen for their four dogs.
While Mize says that winning $1 million is great now that she's had time to take it all in, she admits it was an overwhelming shock at first.
In fact, Mize was so shaken up by her unexpected win that she ended up at an urgent care clinic with dangerously spiked blood pressure just a couple hours after scratching the winning ticket.
"I went to work and I was shaking like a leaf," said Mize. "You just never think it's gonna happen to you."
Mize said she has been a fan of the $80 Million Cash Spectacular game since she won $1,000 on the game in February. She bought her million dollar winner with $15 she won on the game over the weekend.
"If you want to win you have to play," said Mize.
The $80 Million Cash Spectacular game offers millions of chances to win. The game boasts more than 3.2 million prizes and will pay out $80 million, including 8 prizes of $1 million. Currently, seven top prizes of $1 million, 39 prizes of $20,000 and 81 prizes of $10,000 remain unclaimed at this time.
The Hoosier Lottery reminds all players to please play responsibly.
