$300,000 win makes Indy woman “happy camper”
INDIANAPOLIS – An Indianapolis woman says she is one happy camper after winning a $300,000 Quick Draw top prize over the weekend. Rita McElheny says her win is the kick-off to a string of big events coming up in the next few weeks. McElheny’s birthday is May 30th and June 12 she and her husband, Charles, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary.
“This will definitely be one of my better birthdays and anniversaries now,” said McElheny.
The Marion County resident matched all ten numbers in Friday night’s drawing. She purchased her lucky ticket at Marsh the Marketplace located at 320 N New Jersey Street in Indianapolis.
McElheny is a fan of Quick Draw. She plays regularly and buys a week’s worth of tickets in advance.
“I have a tendency to win more with Quick Draw I think,” said McElheny correcting herself with a laugh. “No, now I KNOW I win more.”
McElheny works in retail and says she plans to put most of her winnings in the bank for a rainy day. She and her husband may splurge and take a vacation and she says she might purchase an ipad or a camera.
“I’m not going out and blowing a bunch of money,” said McElheny.
The Hoosier Lottery reminds players to always play responsibly, and to always sign the back of their tickets. Hoosier Lottery players have 180 days to claim prizes on Hoosier Lottery draw games.
As with all Hoosier Lottery games, the net income generated from the sale of Quick Draw in Indiana is turned over to the state. Last year, the Hoosier Lottery transferred $190 million to the state where it was allocated to teachers, police and firefighters retirement funds as well as the Build Indiana Fund which ultimately reduces Hoosiers’ license plate costs.
