Who has the ticket? $46.5 million ticket remains unclaimed!
INDIANAPOLIS –Who has the ticket? Hoosier Lottery officials are still waiting for last week’s Mega Millions® jackpot winner in Indiana to come forward.
Hoosier Lottery officials urge anybody who recently purchased a Mega Millions ticket at grocer Strack & Van Til at 12 Ridge Road in Munster, Ind. to check their tickets carefully. A customer who purchased a ticket at that location has won half of the $93 million* jackpot from the February 1 drawing.
The ticket was one of two tickets nationwide to match all six numbers, 16-22-23-26-35 MB: 31, in the February 1 drawing. The winners will split the $93 million Mega Millions jackpot. A group of U.S. Postal workers in Romulus, MI claimed their half of the jackpot last week. They opted to take the cash option of approximately $29 million (before taxes).
If the Indiana winner selects the cash option they will also walk away with approximately $29 million (before taxes). If they chose to take payment as an annuity, they will receive $46.5 million over the next thirty years.
The holder of the jackpot-winning ticket is encouraged to sign the back of the ticket immediately and call Hoosier Lottery Customer Service at 1-800-955-6886. Players have 180 days from the draw date to claim prizes on Hoosier Lottery draw games. All prizes of $50,000 or more must be claimed at Hoosier Lottery Headquarters in Indianapolis.
This marks the first time a Mega Millions jackpot has been hit in Indiana since the Hoosier Lottery started selling the multi-state game on January 31, 2010.
As with all Hoosier Lottery games, the net income generated from Indiana sales of Mega Millions is turned over to the state. Last year, the Hoosier Lottery transferred $190 million to the state where it was allocated to teachers, police and firefighters retirement funds as well as the Build Indiana Fund which ultimately reduces Hoosiers’ license plate costs.
The Hoosier Lottery reminds all players to please play responsibly.
