$500,000 Payday Brings Options for Richmond Woman
INDIANAPOLIS – Sandra Duarte of Richmond has options that she didn't have a week ago thanks to the Hoosier Lottery. Duarte won $500,000 on a Hoosier Lottery scratch-off game $500,000 Payday last week.
The Wayne County woman was smiling but subdued as she claimed her prize at Hoosier Lottery Headquarters on Friday, accompanied by her son Chad and several other family members. Because of a heart condition Sandra was afraid to get too excited. She is scheduled for a surgical procedure this week.
Duarte is a lifelong resident of Richmond and a 16 year employee at Belden in Richmond. She says she plans to continue working after her surgery, but she is glad to have more options now as she begins to look at retirement with an extra half a million in the bank. She admits she has a desire to kick back and move to South Carolina where most of her family lives. That may become a reality sooner rather than later now that her win has afforded her some options.
Duarte purchased her winning ticket from the Village Pantry on Main St in Richmond, IN.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you! You have saved my life,” said Duarte.
Since 1989, Hoosier Lottery players have won more than $7.6 billion in prizes. The Hoosier Lottery has transferred $3.7 billion to the state for the benefit of the citizens of Indiana.
The Hoosier Lottery reminds all players to please play responsibly.
