Bedford’s Friday the 13th $1 million Mega Millions® winner comes forward

HolleINDIANAPOLIS – The winner of a $1 million Mega Millions with Megaplier® prize in Bedford has come forward.  Tim Holle of Bedford presented the winning ticket at Hoosier Lottery Headquarters Tuesday afternoon.  Hoosier Lottery Public Relations Manager Megan Wright presented Holle with his winnings at Circle K at 1428 16th Street in Bedford Wednesday afternoon.

Holle matched the first five numbers, but not the Megaball® in the Friday the 13th drawing. A last-second decision to add the Megaplier® for an extra dollar increased Holle’s prize from $250,000  to $1 million! Mega Millions players may elect to multiply their non-jackpot winnings up to four times by adding the Megaplier® for an extra dollar per play.

Tim Holle and his wife Juliann are originally from St. Louis and have lived in Bedford for a decade.  The couple owns a photography studio near the Circle K where he purchased his winning ticket.  He says the store has been lucky for him before.

“I always buy my tickets there,” said Holle. “I won $550 there on New Year’s Eve and I seem to win there more often.”

Word of a win at the store had been buzzing around town, with everybody, including the clerks and managers at Circle K, wondering who the winner was.  Holle was all smiles as he walked into the Circle K this afternoon and announced that he was Bedford’s new millionaire.  Assistant Manager Greg Miller immediately knew he had sold Holle the lucky ticket.  The men shared a laugh and shook hands.

Holle joked around with the customers and store personnel as he talked about the experience of winning.  In the end, Holle acknowledged the weight of the windfall.

“This is a real gift,” said Holle. “I feel blessed and humbled.”

The Holles plan to continue living life as they have been. Even their children had a very level headed approach to their parents’ newfound riches. Their eighth-grade son, James,  simply wants a new TV for his bedroom.  Their fifth-grade daughter, Jessica, has asked for a dog.

While the TV and the dog may or may not become a reality for the children, the Holle’s say one thing is for sure.  They have already invested their winnings with an eye on building a secure future for their children.

“We want to help our kids in the future,” said Tim Holle.

Holle’s lucky May 13th winning numbers were:  3-33-39-47-53 MB:9. The Megaplier was: 4.

Friday’s jackpot is an estimated $16 million. Holle is the second lucky player in Indiana to win $1 million playing Mega Millions since the Hoosier Lottery joined the multi-state game in January 2010.

As with all Hoosier Lottery games, the net income generated from Indiana sales of Mega Millions is turned over to the state. Last year, the Hoosier Lottery transferred $190 million to the state where it was allocated to teachers, police and firefighters retirement funds as well as the Build Indiana Fund which ultimately reduces Hoosiers’ license plate costs.

The Hoosier Lottery reminds all players to please play responsibly.
