Bedford co-workers claim $1 million Hoosier Lotto jackpot
PRD, Inc. workers turn $1 into an unexpected bonus!
INDIANAPOLIS (Sept. 20, 2013) - The holder of the winning Hoosier Lotto ticket purchased in Mitchell worth $1 million in the September 11 drawing has come forward. That ticket was purchased at Sprint Oil Company at 4880 State Road 37 in Mitchell - and now we know who purchased it!
A week after the drawing, David McPherson of Mitchell and nine of his co-workers at PRD, Inc. in Bedford came forward, presented the winning ticket and claimed their cash.
The group of co-workers have worked together and played the lottery together for several years. The lucky winners work in different capacities at the injection molding company and their length of service to the company ranges from two to 15 years, but they were all excited to be standing in Hoosier Lottery Headquarters in Indianapolis claiming a big chunk of change Wednesday.
The lucky winners are: David McPherson of Mitchell, who purchases the group's tickets and checks their numbers, Lauri Cooper of Bedford, Zach Flynn of Springville, Steven Catiller of Bedford, Beth Axsom of Mitchell, Judith Martin of Bedford, Kathy Roll of Bedford, Jennifer Myers of Springville, Dennis Sargent of Bedford and Jeremy Brewer of Williams.
The group called themselves the PRD 10 and opted to take the cash option. They split the $400,000 lump sum payout ten ways, walking away with $28,663 each after taxes.
"I'm going to buy a bike and put a down payment on a home," said Zac Flynn of Springville.
Several of the winners were thrilled to be able to pay off bills, while Lauri Cooper of Bedford set her sights on the beach.
"I'm going to Florida for spring break," said Lauri Cooper.
The "PRD 10" are the second set of co-workers to claim a Hoosier Lotto jackpot this month. Two co-workers at CMS Supply in Fort Wayne claimed a $19 million Hoosier Lotto jackpot September 9. Prior to the Fort Wayne jackpot hit, Jack Potts of Cayuga won a $10 million Hoosier Lotto jackpot in April.
The Hoosier Lotto jackpot is $1 million for Saturday.
