Bremen, Ind. tree trimmer wins $1 million playing Powerball
Latest winner plans to do more fishing!
INDIANAPOLIS - (Nov. 18, 2013) A Bremen man is the latest Hoosier to hit it big playing Powerball. Michael Kline claimed a $1 million Powerball prize at Hoosier Lottery Headquarters Friday.
Kline works as a tree-trimmer and says he plans to eventually purchase a modest house and "do more fishing" after matching the first five numbers, but not the Powerball number, in the Nov. 6 Powerball drawing.
Kline's winning ticket is the seventh million-dollar Powerball ticket sold by a Hoosier Lottery retailer since April of this year. The Bremen Speedway at 1228 W. Plymouth Street where Kline purchased his ticket joins retailers in New Albany, Jeffersonville, Columbus, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis and East Chicago in selling million-dollar-winning Powerball tickets in the last seven months.
In just the last six weeks, Powerball players in Indiana have won more than $2.8 million in prizes, including five $10,000 prizes.
In Marshall County, Hoosier Lottery players won $2.5 million in fiscal year 2012 (most current year for which numbers are available). In total, Hoosier Lottery contributed $4,196,651 to Marshall county in player prizes, retailer commissions and bonuses, local teachers, police and firefighters pension funds, and contributions to the Build Indiana Fund which reduces Hoosiers license plate costs by about 50 percent.
