Chicago-Area Man Gets Lucky in Hammond
INDIANAPOLIS – A
Chicago-area man is the latest lucky player to take $50,000
on the Hoosier Lottery's Lucky 5
game. Aaron Hawkins of Flossmoor, Ill.
claimed a prize of $50,000
at Hoosier Lottery Headquarters on Monday afternoon.
Hawkins matched all five numbers drawn in the evening Lucky 5 drawing on April 4. He won with a set of numbers he's been playing about six months. Hawkins says his numbers, 4-6-8-16-17, represent a combination of numbers that are meaningful to him. Those numbers mean even more to Hawkins now that they have won him $50,000.
Hawkins is an 18-year veteran of the U.S. Postal Service. He purchased his winning ticket while getting gas at The Spot at 11001 Indianapolis Blvd. in Hammond. He says he regularly plays the Lottery in Indiana and Illinois.
"I go to Indiana to fill-up," said Hawkins. "I like the Indiana odds."
As for his plans for his winnings, Hawkins is tight lipped. He says he is proceeding slowly. He says he's been carefully mulling over some ideas and wants to make sure he makes a smart move.
Since 1989, Hoosier Lottery players have won more than $7.6 billion in prizes. The Hoosier Lottery has transferred $3.7 billion to the state for the benefit of the citizens of Indiana.
The Hoosier Lottery reminds all players to please play responsibly.
