Fountain City tool manager snags big Powerball® win

INDIANAPOLIS (Feb. 25, 2014) - Fountain City, Indiana has been buzzing since last week when it was learned that a local retailer sold a $1 million dollar winning ticket in last Wednesday's huge $425 million Powerball® drawing. The speculation ended when Richard Heaston, a Fountain City resident of more than 20 years, presented the winning ticket to Hoosier Lottery officials.

HeastonHeaston and his fiancé Angie came to Indianapolis to pick up the big check Monday.

Heaston, a maintenance and tool manager, has worked at the same Richmond, Indiana factory for a quarter of a century. He purchased his winning ticket at the Hometown Mini Mart at 203 S. US 27 in Fountain City.

"I've never won more than $100 from a scratch-off, but I decided to just go for it this time since the jackpot was that large," Heaston explained.

He checked his winning ticket during lunch and thought it might be worth about a thousand dollars after having a close friend look it over. The Quick Pick netted him much more than he anticipated because the ticket matched all numbers but the Powerball number - a feat worth $1 million!

"I took a picture of the ticket and sent it to my fiancé to check because she didn't believe me," said Heaston. "I asked her to check the numbers too, and then I headed back to work for another four hours."

The couple said the win will allow them to purchase a new home together.  Heaston, an avid woods craftsman said he is really pleased that he will have enough space to design and create his wood work.

Heaston is the 23rd Powerball player in Indiana to win $1 milion in the last two years.
