Hoosier Lottery holding open casting call in Mishawaka for new advertising campaign

Participants to receive free scratch-off ticket

Castleton Casting CallINDIANAPOLIS – The Hoosier Lottery is looking for some real, everyday Hoosiers to feature in its new “Imagine That” advertising campaign and will hold its next open casting call Saturday at University Park Mall in Mishawaka.

Auditioning for a spot in the new ad campaign is easy. Anyone 18 or older interested in participating will simply be asked to step up to a microphone and share their dreams by talking about what they would do if they won some money from the Hoosier Lottery.

A handful of the dreams shared during the casting calls – specifically those that capture the essence of what it means to be a Hoosier – could be featured in the new campaign, which kicks off in March 2013. The campaign is expected to be featured in numerous formats including TV, newspaper, online and billboards.

Saturday’s casting call at University Park Mall runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Each participant will receive one free Hoosier Lottery scratch-off ticket.

“Whether someone is a regular player or has never bought a ticket before, winning the lottery is something every Hoosier has dreamt of,” said Jessica Powell, vice president of marketing for GTECH Indiana, working on behalf of the State Lottery Commission. “We want to hear what those dreams are and want to share the best of those dreams in our new campaign.”

Two open casting calls were held in Indianapolis last weekend; Fort Wayne and Evansville will play host to events on Jan. 6 and Jan. 12, respectively.

Auditions are not limited to those that attend one of the public events. Interested participants can also submit their own video to the Hoosier Lottery’s YouTube channel, located at www.youtube.com/thehoosierlottery.

The mission of the Hoosier Lottery is to maximize net income for the state in a socially-responsible manner. In fiscal year 2012, the Hoosier Lottery generated $211 million in surplus revenue which was used to significantly reduce the motor vehicle excise tax for all Hoosier drivers and also supported the pension funds for retired Indiana teachers, police and firefighters. Player prizes for the fiscal year totaled $533 million and $60 million was earned by Indiana retailers on the sale of Hoosier Lottery products.

Since its inception in 1989, the Hoosier Lottery has produced more than $4.2 billion for the citizens of Indiana, $1 billion in commissions and bonuses for participating Indiana retailers, and has paid out more than $8.9 billion in player prizes.
