Hoosier Lottery hosts first retailer advisory board
meeting in Fort Wayne
Advisory board meetings upcoming in Evansville, Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS – The Hoosier Lottery conducted the first of a series of new retailer advisory board meetings Wednesday in Fort Wayne, establishing an interactive forum for the Lottery to create stronger relationships with retail partners.
The meeting brought key retailers from the Fort Wayne market together with Hoosier Lottery management to discuss the current business climate for Lottery retailers and how the Lottery can better serve retailer business needs in the area.
Hoosier Lottery officials also presented to retailers the key pillars of its future business plan, which will responsibly generate more than $200 million in new retailer commissions during the first five years of the plan.
“Hoosier Lottery retailers are the backbone of our success,” said Connie Laverty O’Connor, CEO of GTECH Indiana, working on behalf of the State Lottery Commission of Indiana. “We must bring them into the fold as true partners and provide them the tools needed to drive lottery growth within their business. Superior execution at retail is crucial to lottery sales performance.
“Since the retailers are on the front-lines with our players, their honest ongoing feedback is invaluable to drive innovation in new games, promotions and lottery operations,” said Laverty O’Connor. “Their insights provide a window into local communities all over the state.”
State Lottery Commission chairman William Zielke, who resides in Fort Wayne, was among the meeting attendees.
“We saw great participation in Wednesday’s meeting from the retailers in the area and I was impressed by the dialogue and exchange of ideas between the retailers and the Lottery,” said Zielke. “I am extremely comfortable with the enthusiastic and open approach being implemented by the Lottery and look forward to delivering greater results to all our stakeholders in Indiana.”
Wednesday’s meeting was the first of what will be an ongoing series of meetings held with retailers in markets around the state of Indiana. The Hoosier Lottery will next meet with retailers in the Indianapolis area Dec. 4 and with retailers in the Evansville area Dec. 12.
