Indy man joins growing list of Cash 5 winners
INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 18, 2013) - An Indianapolis man is the latest lucky Hoosier to take a top prize on the Hoosier Lottery's Cash 5 game. Calvin Douglas claimed his winnings at Hoosier Lottery headquarters today and said he "was excited, very excited" to discover that his five lucky numbers earned him $97,587 in Friday night's Cash 5 drawing.
Douglas plays his own numbers and his windfall came courtesy of five numbers that are near and dear to him: 5-7-12-17-24.
The first number, "5" is his wife Judy's birthday. The "7" is their son's birthday. The lucky "12" is Calvin's own birthday. The "17" is their daughter's birthday. The final number, "24" is the date of the month that Judy underwent a successful kidney transplant several years ago.
Calvin Douglas is a retired trucking dispatcher. Judy works in insurance. The lucky couple plan to do some work on their house.
"This will make retirement a little easier," said Calvin Douglas.
Douglas joins winners in Batesville, Fort Wayne, Greenfield, Hammond, Indianapolis, Jasonville, Merrillville, Michigan City, Monterey, Monticello, Muncie, New Haven, Noblesville, Remington, South Bend and Whiteland in claiming Cash 5 jackpots.
