Kokomo man gives wife $50,000 lottery ticket for Christmas
INDIANAPOLIS – A Kokomo man has set the gift-giving bar pretty high, thanks to the Hoosier Lottery. When Tim Waltman tucked a handful of Hoosier Lottery Scratch-offs in his wife’s Christmas stocking, he had no idea he was giving her a $50,000 Christmas gift. One of the tickets, a Money Ball Bingo Scratch-off, was a $50,000 top prize winner.
Sharon Waltman didn’t discover her win until Jan. 14 when she finally got around to scratching off her tickets.
“It’s too unreal,” said Sharon Waltman. “You don’t think that kind of thing is going to happen to you!”
But it is real and it happened - and the Waltmans have the money in the bank to prove it after claiming Sharon’s prize Jan. 15.
With their holiday windfall, the Waltmans plan to pay off their mortgage a little early. They said the timing of the win makes it feel like it was meant to be.
“For Christmas we told both our mothers we would take them on a trip to Branson for a week,” said Waltman. “Now we can do it without worrying about the money.”
Tim Waltman purchased the lucky ticket at Village Pantry at 500 E. Center Road in Kokomo.
