Like Father, Like Son: Vermillion County Man wins $100,000
INDIANAPOLIS – 2011 is looking like a good year for Jerry Dowdy of Clinton. Dowdy won a $100,000 top prize on the Hoosier Lottery’s Double Platinum Payout Scratch-off. He claimed his prize at Hoosier Lottery headquarters Monday, January 3 after purchasing the winning ticket on New Year’s Eve.
Dowdy purchased his lucky $5 ticket at The Kwik Stop at 1458 East State Road 163 in Clinton. It’s the same store that Dowdy’s father, also Jerry Dowdy, won $200,000 playing the Hoosier Lottery game Mix & Match in January 2009.
With his winnings, the younger Dowdy plans to do some travelling in 2011. He says he plans to go to Las Vegas and is looking into taking a trip to Colorado to race Motorcross with his buddies. He’s most looking forward to taking his three children, ages 5, 7 and 9, to Disney World.
“We’re going to stay in the castle!” said Dowdy.
The Hoosier Lottery reminds players to always play responsibly, and to always sign the back of their tickets.
