New Scratch-off Pays Off for New Castle Woman

Peggy GarvinINDIANAPOLIS – A New Castle woman and her husband have a little extra financial security after winning $20,000 playing the Hoosier Lottery's new $100 Million Cash Extravaganza scratch-off game.

Peggy and Roy Garvin are lifelong New Castle residents.  Peggy is a retired elementary school teacher and Roy is a veterinarian.

Roy bought their winning ticket at Fast Shop N Go at 310 South Memorial Drive in New Castle.  He told Peggy of the win over the phone and she refused to believe him.

"He's done this before," said Peggy.  "He tells me every week that we've won."

This time, Roy wasn't joking. Although he might be a prankster, Roy has very conservative plans for the money.  The couple say they plan to buy gold with their winnings.

The new $100 Million Cash Extravaganza hit retailers March 25 and offers the biggest scratch-off prize ever offered by the Hoosier Lottery.  It boasts three top prizes of $5 million and seven prizes of $1 million.  Overall, it offers $100 million dollars in prizes, including more than 19,000 prizes from $500 to $20,000.

The Hoosier Lottery reminds all players to please play responsibly.
