Powerball® pool play picks up with $100 million jackpot
INDIANAPOLIS – For the first time since November’s record $587.5 million Powerball jackpot run, players have a shot at a Powerball jackpot higher than $50 million.
After the record run and the rare occurrence of four straight jackpot hits of $50 million in December, Saturday’s jackpot has climbed to an estimated $100 million.
At the $100 million jackpot mark, office and workplace pools become an increasingly popular way to play. The Hoosier Lottery now offers a tool for Powerball pool players. A printable Lottery Pool Form is available at hoosierlottery.com and is a convenient way to organize lottery pools with friends, family and co-workers.
Hoosier Lottery players who purchase a ticket for Saturday night’s drawing will be trying to score the 39th Powerball jackpot win in Indiana history. The Hoosier Lottery leads the nation in Powerball jackpot wins with 38.
Players have until 9:58 (Eastern) Saturday night to get their tickets and get in on the action.
The Hoosier Lottery reminds all players to play responsibly.
The mission of the Hoosier Lottery is to maximize net income for the state in a socially-responsible manner. In fiscal year 2012, the Hoosier Lottery generated $211 million in surplus revenue which was used to significantly reduce the motor vehicle excise tax for all Hoosier drivers and also supported the pension funds for retired Indiana teachers, police and firefighters. Player prizes for the fiscal year totaled $533 million and $60 million was earned by Indiana retailers on the sale of Hoosier Lottery products.
Since its inception in 1989, the Hoosier Lottery has produced more than $4.2 billion for the citizens of Indiana, $1 billion in commissions and bonuses for participating Indiana retailers, and has paid out more than $8.9 billion in player prizes.
