Southern Indiana woman wins Hoosier Lottery - twice!
Gibson County woman's $1 million win is her second major prize haul
INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 15, 2013) - A Princeton, Ind. woman is the Hoosier Lottery's latest Lucky Millionaire - and it's her second major Lottery win. Connie Cottingham scatched off a $1 million prize on the Lucky Millionaire game late last week.
Cottingham's August 9 trip to Hoosier Lottery Headquarters to claim her $1 million winnings was not her first visit to the Indianapolis Lottery office. Cottingham is now a member of an elite club. She has won two major Hoosier Lottery scratch-off prizes. The lucky bartender and part-time karaoke DJ won $500,000 on a Dazzling Diamonds Scratch-off in July 2008.
The Gibson County woman purchased her million dollar winning ticket at Chuckles Food Mart at 1600 W. Broadway in Princeton. Her 2008 winning ticket came from Evansville Moto Mart at 6328 Division Street in Evansville.
Cottingham said she was more than a little surprised to find herself holding another major winning ticket.
"I was shocked. I had to get my glasses out and take a second look, make sure I was seeing the right thing!" said Cottingham. "I sat there for a little bit thanking the good Lord above for doing an awesome thing again for me."
The double-lucky lady purchased both her winning tickets on her way to work. Unlike the first time when she called off work and drove immediately to Indianapolis to claim her prize, this time, even with a million dollar winning ticket in her purse, Cottingham went on into work and completed her bartending shift. She also said she has no plans to quit working anytime soon.
"I like it. I have a lot of energy. The Lord's blessed me with that," said Cottingham.
As for her winnings, Cottingham has plans to pay it forward, again.
"I'm going to help my daughter first thing and some close family members and close friends and take a trip," said Cottingham who was similarly generous the first time around. "I helped a lot of people."
Cottingham is the tenth player to win $1 million playing Lucky Millionaire. She is the eighth player to claim an instant $1 million top prize on the game. Four instant top prizes remain unclaimed at this time.
The game also offers a second-chance promotion which has awarded two $1 million prizes in second-chance drawings and still boasts one more drawing.
