St. Joseph County woman turns $1 into $300,000 with Fort Wayne Lottery win
INDIANAPOLIS (June 28, 2013) - A visit to her mother's house in Fort Wayne paid off in a big way for North Liberty native Tracy Baber when it put her in the right place at the right time to purchase a top-prize winning Cash For Life ticket worth $500 a week for life!
Baber, her mother, and a close friend stopped at Clark Convenience Store at 1011 Broadway in Fort Wayne late last week for a routine visit that turned into a big $300,000 win for Baber. While sitting in her car at the convenience store, Baber's mom asked, "Are you feeling lucky today, Tracy?"
Apparently, Baber's luck was with her when she scratched-off the $500 a week for life top prize on the $1 game. She opted to take the lump sum of $300,000 and is still wrapping her head around the big win a week later.
"You just don't believe it," she Baber. "I'm always playing tricks on my mom, but this is really unbelievable."
Baber's win was no trick and with it she plans to living comfortably and possibly buy a home in North Liberty, just southwest of South Bend in St. Joseph County.
Baber is just the second winner on the $1 Cash For Life scratch-off, where the top prize will never run out and will always be available. Cash For Life, which gives players the choice of $1, $2, $5 or $10 tickets, offers a chance to win top prizes that range from $500 a week for life to $5,000 a week for life.
