MIX & MATCH
Retired Teacher wins $200,000 with Mix & Match
As she claimed her Hoosier Lottery winnings, Carol Thurston of Niles, Mich. said “It’s unbelievable! You play because you want to win, but you don’t really think you will. You don’t think it will be you. This time it was me!” It sure was! Thurston won a $200,000 Mix & Match top prize when her ticket matched five of five numbers on one line in the July 8 drawing. Thurston and two girlfriends made a day of claiming her prize at Hoosier Lottery Headquarters in Indianapolis Wednesday. After they picked up her check, the trio of retirees planned to have a nice lunch in Indianapolis. Thurston is a retired physical education teacher and coach. She purchased her winning ticket at The Pop Shop at 50510 US Hwy 33 North in South Bend, Ind. Thurston says it is the only place she buys Hoosier Lottery games. Mix & Match is the only Hoosier Lottery game she plays. She makes a special trip from Michigan to South Bend weekly to play the game she loves. She says she loved Mix & Match even before she won big. “It’s (Mix & Match) so much fun! It’s fun to check your numbers,” said Thurston. “I seem to win a lot.” Click here to read more of Carol's story.
