Granger man wins $50,000 on Powerball
Fred Bedford says it’s fun to dream about winning, but he doesn’t have to dream anymore. The Granger, Indiana native won $50,000 on Powerball.
Fred and his wife, Andrea, were on their way home from church when they stopped at Speedway, 1706 South Bend Ave. in South Bend, for soft drinks. While there, Fred bought a Powerball Quick Pick.
A couple weeks later, Fred and Andrea were at the grocery store and went to customer service to check their tickets for winners. One of the tickets was too large for the store to cash, and eventually Fred found out it was a $50,000 winner.
“It was a pleasant surprise,” Fred’s wife, Andrea, said.
“I’m not a big gambler. It’s just one of those things where if you win, it’s fun,” Fred said. “It’s a nice thing to dream about.”
Fred and Andrea have three adult children and a granddaughter. They plan to create a college fund for their granddaughter.
Powerball Overall Odds are 1 in 25.
