Beginner’s luck: man wins $50,000 on first Lucky 5 ticket
Jack Gasperec of Joliet, Ill. was in Munster, Ind. visiting his daughter and son-in-law last Friday evening when he stopped off at the Smoke Shop at 822 Ridge Road in Munster, Ind. After checking out, Gasperec had a couple dollars change so he bought a Hoosier Lottery ticket. It was a Lucky 5 ticket and it was the first time the life-long Illinois resident ever played the game. Call it beginner’s luck. That ticket ended up matching all five numbers to win the top prize of $50,000 in the September 9 Lucky 5 evening drawing. The retired construction worker plans to buy a fishing boat with his winnings. As he tells it, it’s a plan that will benefit both him and his wife. “I built more than 65 buildings in Chicago, and now that I’m retired, I mow the grass and I’m done for the week,” said Gasperec. “A fishing boat will give me something to do and get me out of my wife’s hair.” Read more here.
