Brownstown’s $1 million Powerball® winner to retire
It's a scenario people talk about and hope for - and it actually happened to a Brownstown man. Steve Edwards was sitting in his car on his break at work when he checked his Powerball numbers and discovered he was holding a million-dollar ticket, a ticket to retirement. In shock, Edwards tucked his ticket away, put on his poker face and went back into work to finish his shift at Versatech - with a huge secret. “Everybody was checking their numbers and talking about the jackpot,” said Edwards. “People even asked me if I won. I didn’t tell ‘em.” Edwards said he figures his good fortune is going to be good for a laugh at work during his final two weeks. He already gave his two weeks notice and is excited to say he's retiring a little early. Other than sorting out the details of his retirement, he says he doesn’t have much planned. “We’re not the type of people to do extravagant stuff. We don’t need a lot and don’t want to do a whole lot,” said Edwards. “I just want to take it easy.” Read more of Steve's story here.
